Concentric reducers keep the pipe centerline constant, ideal for vertical lines and balanced flow. Eccentric reducers provide an offset bore; installed flat on top on pump suction to prevent air pockets, or flat on bottom in horizontal slurry lines to maintain drainage. For pump suction, specify eccentric reducers with flat on top. For slurries/drainage, use flat on bottom. Confirm taper, end thickness and mismatch allowances with line spec.
Butt-weld-only grades commonly used for reducers. Confirm chemistry/mechanical properties with project specs. 3.1/3.2 MTCs with full heat traceability are available.
